2011 Session: Leveraging Strengths
Are you curious about the catalyst for creating outstanding performance in an organization? Recent studies have identified the power of leveraging strengths to more effectively achieve goals and accomplish tasks. Interestingly, most performance assessment and feedback focuses on overcoming weaknesses. Yet, one of the optimal ways for an individual to accomplish their best in any organization is to identify their strengths and strategize opportunities to utilize those strengths in their work. It should be noted that personal development can also be maximized through a strengths-focused approach. When individuals learn to focus on what they do well they are able to achieve maximum success and as well as enjoy what they are doing to a greater extent. Prior to the session participants will take the online StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath. During the interactive session, individuals will learn how to leverage and maximize their strengths. ASGMC Inc. will offer ground-breaking research supporting the movement toward strengths-based development and work with participants on the application of their strengths to their work.

Objectives:

  • Create awareness about the importance of focusing on strengths to drive excellence and greater productivity
  • Move toward acknowledging and focusing on strengths
  • Begin the process of personal awareness of strengths and how to apply those strengths to foster success

2011 Session: Resilience: The Skill of Dealing with Difficult Situations
(This session can also be configured to focus exclusively on leaders)
We’ve all heard the phrase “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” yet reality can be more challenging. Leaders are expected to motivate others and employees are expected to remain motivated. Putting aside catch phrases and simplistic answers this session focuses on specific proven methods to increase resilience for leaders and those they lead. Resilience has proven to be one of the most important factors that drive success especially in difficult times. During this interactive session participants will learn how to change their perspective about and reaction to current challenges by learning more about “learned helplessness” and honing their resilience skills using a simple psychologically-proven process. This process, when practiced, allows anyone to confront difficult challenges, identify unique opportunities, and get the most out of themselves and others.

Objectives:

·         Understand and combat “learned helplessness”

·         Use the power of resilience in fostering success amidst difficulties

·         Analyze your own resilience

·         Learn the ABCs of enhancing resilience

·         Create a process for increasing resilience in your workforce
