Jan Sparrow

Jan Sparrow is partner and co-founder of ASGMC. She co-founded the firm to combine her strong communication skills, significant business experience, and relentless research abilities with her dream of helping individuals unleash their potential for leadership and achievement.

Jan’s background is well-suited for helping individuals develop in the areas of teamwork, leadership, and communication. A management development executive with global financial services firm Merrill Lynch from 1984-2000, Jan was responsible for guiding executives in the development of their leadership strengths and experience. She managed a corporate-wide assessment center, helping to select high-potential leaders for intensive career development.

Further, Jan’s extensive experience at Merrill included direct training in the areas of leadership, executive coaching, communication, teambuilding, presentation skill and coaching, conflict management and negotiation, sexual harassment, client service, performance appraisal, and diversity.

An experienced and able project leader, Jan headed Merrill task forces on: selection of high-potential leaders, executive leadership, diversity awareness and training, new employee orientation, and sales management training and development.

Effective both in informal and established settings, Jan helped establish a number of employee network groups. She facilitated focus groups and employee “work-out” conflict resolution sessions, and coached and evaluated project teams. She consistently earned significant positive feedback and was widely requested as a motivational speaker for field and home office staff and executives.

An educator at the University of Northern Colorado from 1976-79 as assistant professor of communication and director of intercollegiate debate, Jan served the University of Denver’s Department of Communication from 1979-82. She earned a Bachelor’s in Education and a Master’s in Communication from Texas Tech University.
